This Life

“Life is tough, my darling, but so are you.” – Stephanie Bennett Henry

There is so much senseless violence. There are way too many lives lost everyday. Heartbroken families. Sadness. Losses. Pain. There is a lot that goes on in this big world, most of which we have no control over.

When I think about it, this life is fragile. This life you’re living is all you got. The body you’re in, the thoughts you have, the heartbreak you feel or the love you have is all you are promised in this life. You are all you got. This life won’t stop. This life will keep moving whether you decide to get out of bed or not, decide to love yourself or hate yourself, do your homework or not, talk to someone you like or not, eat the cookie or salad – anything that can happen in life – big or small will continue. Don’t waste too much time worrying about the small things, but instead enjoy the small things. This life is passing – seconds, minutes, hours, days, and years – rather quickly and if you don’t take a moment to stop and relax it’s going to go right by your eyes. This life is sometimes hard to handle with all its sickness, heartache, death, violence, and negativity. It truly is sometimes. But, this life is beautiful. This life is beautiful in the bigger picture. When you combine all the sadness and devastation with the triumphs and exhilaration though, it becomes a beautiful, complex piece of work.

Life is beautiful and complex. Enjoy the big moments just as much as the small moments. Laugh so much your cheeks hurt and perhaps your stomach. Cry just as much when you need to let everything out. Live this life for yourself and live it well, don’t waste it away for someone or on something. Live it because it’s moving right now.
